If You Work for a Living You Can’t Afford to Vote Republican This November.

Republicans distract by constantly blabbering about guns, Obama and Benghazi, but that is merely to divert you from what they are doing to make your life worse.

In state legislatures and in Congress,
Republicans have voted AGAINST:

·      Social Security and its increases
       Minimum wage increases
·      Workplace safety
·      Cities and states that raise minimum wages above federal levels
·      Paid sick leave
·      Unemployment benefit extensions
·      Equal pay for women doing equal work
·      Prohibiting wage theft – paying less than minimum wage, forcing          unpaid overtime, taking tips, etc

    And Republicans vote FOR:
·      Child labor
·      Forcing unemployed workers to accept lower paying jobs or lose unemployment benefits
·      Canceling unemployment benefits for employees who violate company behavior standards – such as criticizing it on FaceBook or dating a co-worker.

This is true for Republicans in West Virginia and in every state. And it is consistent with more than 100 years of Republican opposition to workers, including voting historically against Social Security, 8 hr workdays, minimum wages, and Medicare.

Republicans have always been the party of the corporations, but now many Americans are sinking out of the middle class, and at the same time, the May 28 Wheeling Intelligencer reports that the medium income of CEOs is now $10million – a 50% increase over last 4 years.

If your salary HASN'T increased 50% over the last few years:

VOTE FOR DEMOCRATS IN NOVEMBER 2014!

Why this Blog?

I can't sit back quietly any more. The Republican Party has become such a negative force for the United States that I am willing to brand all of them as dangerous, and to advocate voting against all of them in the elections of November 2014 and 2016. I am especially concerned about Republicans in West Virginia, because that is where I live, but sane people need to vote to get all of "our" country back.

Over the last 150 years the United States has had two political parties that have completely dominated politics and government. Each of them has screwed up at various times, but over the last 100 years, and especially today, it is the Republicans. Today, the federal government hardly functions, and the problem is not Washington, it is mostly the Republicans.  Additionally, in the 25 states with Republican governors and legislatures, laws have been passed that weaken voting and civil rights, and provide a preview of what would happen nationally if Republicans were to take over the Senate in 2014 and the presidency in 2016. The purpose of this blog is show how the Republican Party is a threat to the United States and thus why no one, other than millionaires and billionaires should vote for it in November 2014.

I do not propose to call Republicans names, although some Tea Party extremists say things that are so far from established understanding that you have to question their intelligence. My goal is to explain why many of the positions Republicans advocate are seriously bad for American workers, the environment, and scientific progress. Basically the Republican philosophy seems to be a hatred of the federal government and President Obama. Many liberals equate the later with racism, and Republicans are strongest in areas where slavery and Jim Crow have held blacks back for hundreds of years.

The philosophy of Republicans seems to be a mixture of religious certitude, unthinking corporate support, and every man for himself. Often Republicans just seem mean, as in the 2012 Republican Debate when the audience screamed that an injured motorcyclist should be left to die if he lacked insurance; it wasn't society's responsibility to take care of everyone. Similarly, it is common for Republicans to blame poor people for being poor, even though minimum wage stagnation means that a full time worker at most low end jobs can not earn enough to support a family.

Various of these concerns will be discussed in this blog, but an overwhelming concern is that Republicans don't seem as interested in the good of their country as much as they are interested in the good of their party.

I hope you will read some of these short essays and if you agree or disagree that you will comment. And I hope your language will be as temperate as I'll try to make mine.
